From the Scientific Lab to Leading an Innovative Startup

Meet Ioanna Zergioti, CEO and Co-Founder of PhosPrint

Few people embody resilience, curiosity, and innovation like Ioanna Zergioti, CEO and Founder of PhosPrint P.C. and Professor at the National Technical University of Athens.

For over two decades, Ioanna has been at the forefront of scientific research in laser bioprinting and additive manufacturing. Her work bridges the gap between advanced research and real-world applications, transforming how regenerative medicine is being approached today.

Through PhosPrint, a pioneering Greek deep-tech company, Ioanna and her team are developing cutting-edge laser bioprinting systems that enable the precise deposition of living cells, driving breakthroughs in tissue engineering and personalized medicine. Remarkably, the printer can print 100 million cells in just 1.6 minutes, a capability that demonstrates both the sophistication and potential of their technology. What began as years of research in the lab has evolved into a startup that is putting Greece on the global map of biomedical innovation.

Beyond the lab and the boardroom, Ioanna is a strong advocate for women in science and technology, fostering diversity and inclusion within her research team. She believes that creating opportunities and visibility for women in these fields is essential for lasting progress. And when she is not leading groundbreaking research, you can often find her swimming, and it is safe to say few can keep up with her 1.5 kilometer daily sessions in the water.

We are honored to have Ioanna Zergioti join us at Founders Circle Athens, where she will share her journey, lessons, and insights on building a high-impact scientific venture from Greece to the world.
