Summary: National AI Strategy for Greece
The High-Level Advisory Committee on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was established in November 2023 under the Prime Minister's guidance and coordinated by the Special Secretariat of Foresight. Its mission is to draft a national AI policy aimed at leveraging AI's potential to benefit Greece's economy, society, and global standing.
Priority Areas of the Proposed National Strategy
1. AI Education and Workforce Development
Introduce AI and its ethical implications into educational curricula starting at the primary level.
Launch reskilling and upskilling programs for the general population.
Enhance AI literacy and promote AI's empowerment opportunities across Greek society.
Strengthen Greece's capacity for AI innovation.
2. Enhancing Public Services
Develop smart infrastructures.
Improve citizen-friendly government services at both national and local levels.
3. Safeguarding Democracy
Defend democratic values and enable informed public participation in democratic processes.
Protect the public sphere from disinformation and misinformation.
4. Advancing Healthcare Quality
Strengthen the national healthcare system with AI-driven, data-based solutions.
Focus on predictive and targeted healthcare to improve patient outcomes.
This comprehensive strategy seeks to prepare citizens, improve governance, protect democracy, and elevate healthcare standards, ensuring a future-ready Greece.
